JT (Joseph Tema)

Hey there, I'm JT, the new SU President.

Last year I was the full time Campaigns and Activities Officer and before that I studied BA Politics. While I was a student I spent much of my time engaged with the SU: I was the captain of the Men's Rugby team in my second year, and in my final year I was a part of the Wired Radio team.

Over the past year, I've spent a lot of time working with the estates department to try and get student feedback about our campus taken more seriously and I will continue to do this over the coming year.

A big focus for my year will be re-writing the SU's Articles of Governance. These are the rules that dictate how the SU works and how students can shape the work and policy of the Union. The current rules are over a decade old, so I want to update them to try and make it easier for students to have a say in how we operate.

The other key part of my role is representing the views of students within the College's governance structures and making sure that the College is properly considering how students will be affected by projects and changes.

I'm really excited to be the mouthpiece of the student body this year and I'm hoping to get some big wins for students. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
