Academic Communities

We’ve launched the Academic Communities Fund, providing money and staff time to help you to build academic communities.

Research shows that students are happier and perform better academically when they feel part of a community. At Goldsmiths this usually means feeling part of the department you study in.

With this in mind, we launched the Academic Communities Fund in 2017, which provides money and staff time to help you to develop a community within your department. In the 2017/18 academic year we funded over 150 events, attended by over 8,000 students.

We want to continue to build up a calendar of events throughout the academic year that will help you to meet students in your department - to socialise, experience London, and expand on what is already offered in your curriculum.

For this to happen, we need your ideas!

If you have an idea that would help to bring together students in your department, we want you to get in touch: simply fill out the form below, and we’ll get back to you. Please check out our FAQs and the 2018/19 criteria before submitting your application.

We've also put together some event inspiration, with examples of things we've funded before, to help you to come up with your own department-based events and trips.

Applications will close on 1st June.
