The Top Festive Food and Drink in New Cross

To welcome in December, we thought we’d search far and wide (well, the width of New Cross...) for the best Christmas themed food and drink to get you in a festive mood before the end of term.

See what tickles your fancy and book in for a festive celebration or grab a drink with your classmates before you all head off for the winter break!

Christmas Dinners

Your usual Sunday roast just got an upgrade...

The New Cross House has a festive menu that includes 2 courses for £18 and 3 courses for £22. This includes your classic turkey and all the trimmings as well as a more alternative veggie option: a butternut squash chili with quinoa. Oh and the Christmas pudding is gluten free too! See the menu here. Booking required.

The Rose also has a 3 course set menu for £26 which includes a roast Norfolk turkey and duck fat roast potatoes. The veggie option is a grilled herb polenta with wild mushrooms and spinach ragu, pine nuts and truffle oil. Go full festive with a third course of a traditional Christmas pud or even English farmhouse cheeses with a quince jelly. Booking required.

Christmas Drinks and Snacks

Take a break from your studies and choose a yummy winter warmer in the SU Bar or Cafe...

In the SU, we’ve got the Christmas decorations up already and the SU Cafe will soon be selling mince pies, the perfect snack to go with the cheapest coffee on campus (Espresso £1.30, 8oz Americano £1.75, 8oz Latte or Cappuccino £1.95).

In the SU Bar we’ve got delicious mulled wine on sale from December for only £2.40 a glass as well as a whole load of Christmas and end of term events (see what’s on here).

Birdie Num Nums are now selling a lovely spiced Mulled Cider:

The London Particular are also doing a festive hot drink of mulled wine:

Have a good one y'all!
