Our pick of the best virtual quizzes...

A host of pubs and breweries are taking their weekly trivia sessions online - and we love them because they’re a great way to pass the time. (We realllyyyyy miss the SU Bar and promise to never take it for granted again!) So use your self-isolation brain power in these virtual quizzes to keep you entertained EVERY day of the week…

Kick off the week with a virtual trip to the Alexandra pub in Wimbledon for an online quiz with pub star, Mick. Super competitive? Then you’ll be pleased to hear that the picture round goes online at 4pm, before the live quiz kicks off at 8pm, so you can waste away 4 hours on the first round (if that’s not the perfect use of your time right now, we don’t know what is). You can join Mick on Instagram Live. Better still, it’s free.

Of course, it goes without saying that the number 1 slot has to go to our very own Trashy Tuesdays with ROSE XO who will be bringing you endless virtual entertainment every week. Whoop! Connect via Zoom at 9pm: for fun, games, quizzes and prizes! Of course, if once a week with ROSE XO just isn’t enough, then why not give one of the below a go too - but if you’re going to try just one, we recommend this.

Test your general knowledge at this mid-week quiz with Radio 1’s Scott Mills. He’s linked up with the MS Society, so while it’s technically free, you can also donate a couple of quid to charity while taking part. Grab your housemates or join in solo just before 8pm every Wednesday from the comfort of your own living room. To watch live, click here.

If you fancy trying a quiz that approximately 150,000 people from around the world have already played (that means it must be good, right?) then you need to get in on The Virtual Pub Quiz action. It’s hosted by former pub landlord Jay Flynn at 8.15pm each week, and is raising thousands of pounds for the NHS Charities Together. So log-in here after the 8pm NHS clap and have some fun. Recommended!

We think it’s time for an end of the week blow out with the Scottish BrewDog brewery. They’ve turned their 48 bars into an online hangout space called the BrewDog Open Arms. Love it. Join them via Zoom from 6pm on a Friday for a quiz with live music from a special guest. Sounds intriguing!

It’s the freaking weekend… and yes, we might be in isolation, but it’s time to celebrate! This one isn’t technically a quiz, but as it’s Saturday we thought it was acceptable to mix things up a bit. The Covid Arms (get it) is a stand up comedy night in a virtual pub with a bunch of famous faces. It costs £2 to watch from 7pm, but that cash goes towards the Trussell Trust who provide food banks to the vulnerable.

Finish the week off with The Inquizition - they’re the quizmasters behind the questions at dozens of pubs in London. Apparently, more than 40 eggheads get together to create a weekly trivia test. Like the rest of us, they’ve gone online during lockdown, hosting their quiz at 8pm every Sunday until June 14th. There might not be prizes, but it’s free, there are lots of rounds and you know the questions are going to be decent if they’re coming from these pros.
