Changed your address? Register to vote...
Don’t forget the May local elections are coming up in less than a month (2nd May) so if you haven’t already, make sure you register to vote by Friday 12th April.
If you’ve changed address, you need to register (or re-register) to vote. For local elections, students are entitled to register and vote at both their home address and their university address.
Why is this important?
The local government elections select councillors who are responsible for making decisions on running services in the borough. Make your voice heard on the issues you care about.
How do I do it?
You can register online. It only takes around five minutes – click here. All you need is your National Insurance number and date of birth.
To be entitled to register, you must be either a British citizen, citizen of the Republic of Ireland, citizen of a country belonging to the European Union, or other Commonwealth citizen. EU citizens will still be able to vote in the May 2019 local elections, even if the UK leaves the EU.
Did you know?
Not only will voting mean your voice is heard on key issues, it can also enhance your credit rating too.
