How can I get compensation from the strikes?

From next Thursday (20th Feb) until Friday 13th March, there will be 14 days of strike action – two in the first week, three in the second, four in the third and five in the forth.  This is because staff across the University who are members of the University and Colleges Union (UCU) are walking out over universities’ failure to make improvements on pay, equality, casualisation, workloads and changes to staff pensions.

While the Students’ Union stands in full solidarity with our lecturers, academics and professional staff who have been forced to take this difficult but necessary step, we also understand it is incredibly disruptive to you and your studies and you deserve compensation for this. To find out how to apply for compensation, have a read here.

Our Advice Team are also putting on three presentations during this period about how to fill in the compensation form as well as explaining the procedure for making a complaint. All are welcome to attend and there will be an opportunity to ask questions if you have them. The sessions are on at the following times in the SU Venue.

- Thursday 27th February - 1.30 - 2.30pm

Thursday 5th March - 1.30 - 2.30pm

Monday 23rd March - 1.30 - 2.30pm
