An update from our amazing Women's Part Time Officers!

Hello!

We (Kocoa and Alex) are your Women’s Part-Time Officers for this academic year, and we thought this blog post would be a great way to introduce ourselves and give you our  contact details so you can keep in touch!

2020 was one heck of a year and the Covid-19 pandemic threw us some incredible curveballs.  The first and second semesters have been a gruelling slog for us all as we have had to contend with the loss of our old lives, loneliness, the loss of loved ones and reimagining our learning completely with online learning.  Like us, we are sure that there have been many moments of feeling overwhelmed with the enormity of the tasks ahead and juggling essay writing, impending assignments and deadlines.  However, hopefully very soon, we will be able to re-emerge to brave our new way of living.

We’re all being faced with lots of different challenges at the moment, so please let us know if you need help with anything you are struggling with as well as any suggestions for things that we might be able to put into action to improve things for you.  Our contact details are below, and we are happy to help in any way that you need us!

March is also Women’s History Month. As a result, there are lots of plans underway to create inspiring events, workshops and speakers.  We already have some aspirational women from different fields lined up to share their wisdom and advice.

But we’d love to hear what YOU want from this month.  If there are any women that you look up to in life; whether in the creative industries, businesswomen, writers or speakers – whatever the topic area or workshop is that you’d find helpful – please feel free to send us your requests.

SO WHAT’S NEXT?

Virtual Coffee Morning

We’re in the process of setting up a weekly virtual drop-in coffee morning, so that we can get to know some of you!  We’d love to create a space where likeminded women can safely discuss the topics that matter to them and offer support and advice to one another.  We’ll let you know as soon as that is all set up.

THANK YOU!

Finally, we just want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who voted for us.  We are so grateful and excited to be taking on this role together, and hopefully will be able to make a positive impact despite the current circumstances.  We want to support, inspire and empower, giving you a voice so that we can make the change you want to see.

More of our plans will be revealed in the coming weeks so stay tuned!
