5 best Halloween events in SE London 2019

Whether you like wrapping up warm to go to a market or being scared senseless, we’ve got the perfect autumnal experience for you. Here’s the Goldsmiths SU round up of the best Halloween events happening in South East London in 2019.

Phobophobia: the London Bridge Experience

Where? The London Bridge Experience, 2-4 Tooley Street, London SE1 2SY

When? 25th, 26th, 30th, 31st October and 1st, 2nd November at 6pm – 10pm

The London Bridge Experience has won the best year round scare attractions in the UK consecutively for the past 11 years… and at London Bridge it’s practically on our doorstep.

Their Halloween event Phobophobia is undeniably one of the scariest events in London. Venture into their scare maze and confront zombies, clowns, chainsaw-wielding hillbillies and a whole load of other nightmarish characters - it’s definitely not for the fainthearted!

Afterwards you can also head upstairs to their ice cream parlour and treat yourself to one of an awesome selection of Halloween-themed desserts to recover.

Horniman Halloween Fair

Where? Horniman Museum and Gardens, 100 London Road, SE23 3PQ

When? Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 October, 10:30am - 4:30pm

One of South East London’s most wholesome autumn events, the Horniman Halloween Fair is perfect if you want to celebrate without being scared senseless.

Located in the Horniman Museum in Forest Hill, it’s an adorable outdoor market selling handmade arts and crafts by local artists and designers - the perfect place to buy a few Christmas presents or stock up on fresh produce from the many food stalls. Plus, if you fancy a stroll, the Horniman’s gardens are beautiful.

The HallowQueen Ball

Where? The Fox and Firkin, 316 Lewisham High Street, SE13 6JZ

When? 2nd November, 8pm - 2am

Don’t miss this spooky LGBTQ+ themed night at the Fox and Firkin! The HallowQueen Ball combines a screening of iconic queer vampire film The Hunger starring Catherine Deneuve and David Bowie in their attic cinema with a darkwave Halloween disco.

The event also features Tarot card readings, a fancy dress competition and a special Halloween-themed performance by drag queen Cynthia Seaward! Yassss!!

Rivioli Ballroom: Halloween Fright Night Screenings

Where? Bunker 51, 3 Herringham Road, SE7 8NJ

When? 28th, 29th, 30th and 31st October, 8pm onwards

With its authentic 50s decor and two elegant bars, the Rivioli Ballroom is one of the most atmospheric venues in London - and it’s currently hosting what may be the classiest pop-up cinema in South East.

Their Halloween Fright Night film screenings give you the chance to catch horror classics and retro slashers like The Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and The Shining on the big screen.

Carnivale: the Dark and the Damned

Where? Bunker 51, 3 Herringham Road, SE7 8NJ

When? 31st October, 1st and 2nd November, 9pm - 3 am

If creepy club nights are your thing, check out Carnivale: the Dark and the Damned. Located in Greenwich, this themed night offers a unique Halloween club experience with immersive performances by costumed actors, carnival games and scare mazes.

There’s also an epic dance floor with DJs playing hip hop, R&B, jungle and garage and food is served all night long (vegan options available).

We love Carnivale because it’s committed to being a low-impact, eco-friendly night where almost all waste is biodegradable or recyclable, so you can party guilt-free. And with early bird tickets at just £5, what’s not to love?
