This week we come to you with a special edition of our ‘5 things’ series, taking inspo from the new phase of the award-winning This girl Can campaign.
This year it’s all about #FitGotReal which aims to target womxn of different backgrounds and ethnicities to encourage them to not feel pushed out by the traditional forms of exercise. There are loads of ways to take care of your mind and body without having to spend a ton of money on equipment and fancy products, so why not give one of these a go!
If you spend a lot of time behind a desk - whether it's in the library, in class or at your job, then why not try a little deskercise to get your heart beat pumping? Do a few leg lifts, shoulder shrugs or try some desk yoga. Perhaps pre-warn your colleagues or classmates beforehand though as you may get a few odd looks!
Free womxn hour
Club Pulse Gym at Goldsmiths will be having a free womxns hour on Sunday 25th November (8.30 am - 10 am and 4.30 pm - 5.30 pm) where you can enjoy all the facilities on site. There will also be female only instructors to assist with your workouts. So there really is no excuse!
Take 5 - 10 minutes just for yourself to reset, recharge and prioritise yourself. Meditating is known to bring calm, wellness and balance to your mind. It’s also handy for the nocturnal ones amongst us, as it’s granted to help give you a good night's kip. We recommend the apps Headspace and Calm.

Do you live in Southwark? Well then you’re in for a treat! That’s because the residents of Southwark borough can apply for free swim and gym, allowing you to use the facilities for free in the borough’s six leisure centres. Believe it or not cleaning is a nifty way of getting in a workout and shutting your mind out form the hussle and bussle of life. It’s one of the most regular tasks we put off but a bit of dusting is definitely a great save on a gym membership. If you want to make it more exciting set a 30-min timer (the minimum out of moderate-intensity exercise you should have in a workout), whack on your fave tunes and get sweeping and mopping!
