About Us

POLE CLUB IS BACK!

Welcome to Goldsmiths Pole Dance Fitness Club! We're so excited to be back for 2023/2024. Pole is for everyone regardless of gender, size, fitness level (your strength, flexibility and coordination will increase over time!). We welcome everyone from absolute beginners to more experienced pole dancers!

Timetable

Pole classes for the Spring Term are back from February - June 2024

Classes from February 2024 onwards will be on Monday nights for Beginner levels 1 & 2 and Intermediate levels 3 & 4 on Wednesday nights.

Monday

  • Spinny Pole Flow: 5:30-6:30pm (5 Feb and March - June 2024)

In Pole Flow with Maddalena/Neptune you'll learn combinations and transitions that will result in a sequence you will be encouraged to play with and make your own. Most of the moves will be in the lower part of the pole and will involve elements of floorwork. Great emphasis will be placed on dancing the routine to different musicalities and adding your own unique touch to it! Heels are optional, but kneepads/long socks are recommended for ease during floorwork:)

Level: not suitable for absolute beginners - must be able to invert or working towards it

  • Low Flow Choreo with Baby Rain: 5:30-6:30pm (12, 19, 26 Feb 2024)

We will be learning the basic elements of low flow - transitions, pirouettes, basic stands, etc. Low flow uses the lower 1/3 of the pole to create a dance that flows effortlessly. Beginner dancers are welcome. The class will run without heels but if you wish to bring heels and try the choreo with them on, you are more than welcome to do so. Each class will be a different choreography with the levels increasing gradually throughout the three sessions!

Level: not suitable for absolute beginners - must be able to invert or working towards it

  • Beginner Level 1/2: 6:30-7:30pm
  • Pole Hire / Monthly Workshop: 7:30-8:30pm

What to wear/bring?

You need to wear shorts and sports bra or top to allow enough skin to grip to the pole. Our skin is what keeps us in the air! Leggings won't allow much grip, so try to wear shorts.

Bring a towel or microfibre cloth to occasionally wipe the pole, and water bottle.

DO NOT moisturise 24 hours before pole sessions! You can bring your own pole grip/chalk if you wish.

For choreography, you can wear pole heels or be barefoot/in socks. We highly advise to cover your knees either with kneepads or long socks or leggings.

Feel free to email us with any questions or queries at poledancefitnessclub@goldsmithssu.org or DM us on Instagram, @goldpoledance :)
