Fighting Gendered Islamophobia With Samayya Afzal

Thu 25 November 2021 18:00-19:00 - Liberation Room

Many Muslim women find their identity contested between three intersecting pillars: race, religion and gender. Each can make them a target, but together they form a distinct experience for Muslim women in British society. In this workshop, led by Samayya Afzal, we will explore gendered Islamophobia, and the impact it can have on Muslim women, who - despite not being a monolith - are viewed through a stereotypical lens created by irresponsible media reporting and public inquisitions led by politicians.
