Holocaust Memorial Day

Mon 27 January 2020 11:30-13:30 - Deptford Town Hall Council Chamber

You are invited to join Goldsmiths' Jewish Community, as they hold a ceremony to commemorate all those who perished and suffered in the Holocaust, as well as many other genocides throughout history. This will be a space for staff and students to intentionally remember these events and remind ourselves of our commitment and duty to learn from these events so that we can see a more peaceful world, free from these horrors. We are holding the event on the 75th Anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz Birkenau.

This year’s Holocaust Memorial Day Ceremony will include video testimony, speakers from Goldsmiths and external speakers such as Damien Egan, Mayor of Lewisham and Rabbi Gavin Broder. It will also include addresses from the Goldsmiths SU Sabbatical Team and a short speech from the Goldsmiths Jewish Community Committee.
