Freelancing 101

Freelancing 101

Fri 15 February 2019 16:00-17:00 - Margaret Macmillan Building Room 220

Freelancing can sometimes feel like a pretty scary or unachievable pathway --  but it doesn’t have to be! Jack from Underpinned will be leading an interactive workshop based around your first few days as a freelancer; what to expect from clients , how to create your own work rather than relying on others, how to handle HMRC, and how to begin your freelance journey on the right foot.

Speaker Bio

Jack Williams (he/him) is the co-founder and editor of UnderPinned, a magazine and platform for freelancers. He has lived on every continent except Antarctica, was included in Electric Read’s best 25 Writers under 25, and has been published in The Week, 4th Estate, Oracle, Alliterati, and Goldsmiths’ own Writer’s Bloc. He was recently on the panel for a discussion with Screenshot Magazine, and has ran several writing workshops while being the editor of Other, a magazine for creatives in SE London. He previously taught creative writing, and is a Goldsmiths graduate.
