Officer Elections 2024

The Students' Union elections for the positions of President, Education Officer, Campaigns & Activities Officer, Welfare & Liberation Officer, Disabled Students' Officer, Women's Officer, BME Students' Officer, LGBTQ+ Students' Officer, Trans & Non-Binary Students' Officer. All current students are eligible to vote.

The polls have closed.

President

Full time, paid position for one year. The President helps to lead the Students’ Union, is the Chair of Goldsmiths Students’ Union Trustee Board, and works each day to ensure the SU is student-focused and representing the needs and wishes of students at Goldsmiths. The President is a member of Goldsmiths College’s Council, and attends a wide variety of College committees and decision making bodies.

Education Officer

Full time, paid position for one year. The Education Officer is the lead officer for representing the educational experience of all Goldsmiths students. This role represents students on the College’s Academic Board and works with the Department Representatives.

Campaigns and Activities Officer

Full time, paid position for one year. The Campaigns and Activities Officer is the lead officer for the development of student activities, societies and sports clubs. This role also directs the Union’s campaigns internally, locally and nationally.

Welfare and Liberation Officer

Full time, paid position for one year. The Welfare and Liberation Officer is the lead officer for the development of liberation groups on campus and advocating for student mental health and wellbeing initiatives. This role represents students on a range of College committees relating to liberation and student health.

Global Ethnic Majority Students' Officer

The BME Officer works with the Welfare and Liberation sabbatical Officer to represent BME students at Goldsmiths, ensuring their voices are heard loud and clear and the college are acting on issues such as the gap between white and BME students in degree attainment.

Disabled Students' Officer

The role of Disabled Students' Officer is to represent disabled students on campus. They will work to ensure the campus, curriculum and student experience is accessible and inclusive by design.

Women's Officer

The Women's Officer represents and campaigns with and behalf of students at Goldsmiths who self-define as women.

LGBTQ+ Students' Officer

The purpose of this role is to represent LGBTQ+ students on campus, to be a member of the part-time officer team, to campaign on issues relevant to LGBTQ+ students, and to work with the full-time Welfare and Diversity Officer on issues relating to LGBTQ+ students.

Trans and Non-Binary Students' Officer

The Trans and Non-Binary Officer represents and campaigns with and on behalf of trans and non-binary students on campus, working with the Full-Time Welfare and Liberation Officer.

Union Chair

The role of Union Chair is a part-time, voluntary position and can be done by any current student of Goldsmiths. The purpose of this role is to chair Student Assembly meetings, and to be a member of College Council.

NUS Delegate (2 places)

The candidates elected will represent Goldsmiths students and the Students' Union at the National Union of Students (NUS) Conference. This is where national policy is voted on.

Student Trustee (4 places)

Student Trustees sit on the Board of Directors for the Union. Trustees are not to be involved in day to day affairs, but take an overview of how the Union is performing, both financially and in delivering services to students.

An international student is someone who has travelled from abroad to study within the UK. We are looking for someone who self-defines into this group to lead this community.
