Thu 26 October 2017 18:30-22:00 - The SU Bar
Hosted in collaboration with Take Back The City, join a celebration of Black British resistance and defining moments in Black British history over the last half a century, from the Battle of Lewisham to the Brixton riots. Through live poetry, music and short films, explore political black art across the generations and the important role it has played and continues to play in the Black British struggle.
An intergenerational panel will explore Black British histories of resistance and the art that has defined it. The panel will look at how black artists over the decades have pushed anti-racist action, mobilised communities into anti-racist campaigning and discuss strategies to build against a more hostile form of racism and xenophobia in the age of Theresa May, Brexit and Trump.
This event will be completely free and open to any and everyone who wants to join.
