Holocaust Memorial Day

Fri 27 January 2017 10:30-11:30 - The Great Hall, Richard Hoggart Building

Remembering the millions lost to the Holocaust and subsequent genocides

On Friday 27 January Goldsmiths will mark Holocaust Memorial Day with a service in the Great Hall.

The ceremony – organised by Goldsmiths Students’ Union – will take place from 10.30-11.30am in the Richard Hoggart Building for students, staff and members of the public.

The event will feature memorial prayers performed by a choir, addresses from students and staff and video testimonies from survivors of the Holocaust and Rwandan genocide.

Holocaust Memorial Day takes place on 27 January each year. It’s a time for everyone to pause to remember the millions of people who have been murdered or whose lives have been changed beyond recognition during the Holocaust, Nazi Persecution and in subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur. 27 January marks the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp.
