Omnii IN ASSOCIATION WITH NATIVE INSTRUMENTS AND Goldsmiths Students' Union PRESENTS: MUSIC TECH FEST

To celebrate this years Women’s History Month and Alternative Careers Week at Goldsmiths, we bring you a day centred around MUSIC TECHNOLOGY, for women and non-binary people; giving you the opportunity to get hands on with hardware and learn new skills in a safe, non-judgemental space. 

The day consists of a series of workshops ran by Native Instruments and Omnii, aiming to engage those of all abilities into technical aspects of sound and music production. 

ROOM 1 (SU Bar): 

NATIVE INSTRUMENTS Production Workshops 1-6pm

Electronic Music Producer and Native Instruments product specialist, ANNA DISCLAIM [https://soundcloud.com/anna_disclaim] will be doing run-throughs of the new Maschine and Komplete Kontrol Keyboard throughout the day. If you’ve ever wanted to get hands on with Native Instruments kit, now is the time! Anna will be showing you tips and tricks to get the best from the new range of products.

They will cover:
Making Beats (step sequencing, recording real time, note repeat)
Melodies (bass line/keys/chords, arpeggiator, variation)
Track Deconstruction
Sampling 
Komplete Kontrol MK2 integration with Ableton Live

ROOM 2 (studio):

Live sound workshop 1 - 2.30pm NOW FULL
Come and learn the basics of engineering a live band with Omnii’s Sound Engineer’s Joy and Naomi.

Mixing workshop 3 - 4pm NOW FULL
Introduction to the basic techniques of mixing. An opportunity to also bring a track and receive advice on achieving the best possible mix with artist and Omnii producer La Leif. Bring audio files on USB’s. 

Gear improv session 4 - 6pm 
Like jamming with your mates but with electronic instruments. Bring your hardware, software, synths, samplers, pedals and make music with like minded tech lovers. An opportunity to pick up new techniques from your peers and introduce yourself to different equipment in a creative environment without limitations. 

6pm-8pm 
Networking drinks
Have a drink with us, meet future collaborators and fellow gear lovers.

WRPM (Women’s Revolution Per Minute)
Goldsmiths Library (Goldsmiths Students only)

Women's Revolutions Per Minute (WRPM) was set up in 1977 as part of the Women's Art Collective in London promoting festivals of music by women as part of the Women's Liberation Movement. From feminist lesbian record labels, to all female festivals throughout history, come and explore this insightful archive in Goldsmiths Library. The WRPM collection contains hard copies of everything from the catalogue including vinyl, tapes, CDs and books, many by women pioneer producers.
