Queer Refugees? Telling the stories of LGBTQ Migrants
Thu 01 March 2018 19:00-22:30 - SU Venue
This event is focused around listening to and supporting queer refugees who try to forge a place for themselves in European countries, one of the most urgent issues in LGBTQ politics and research today.
The evening will begin with a performance produced by
ice&fire
, a charity who explore human rights through performance:
This is Who I Am
is a verbatim performance of queer refugee narratives that offer an insight into the challenges and experiences shaping the lives of LGBTQ migrants.
Following the performance we host a panel discussion to further discuss these experiences with people engaged in work with and for LGBTQ migrants. The panel will include speakers from
Lesbians and Gays Support the Migrants
,
African Rainbow Family
, Dr. Maryna Shevtsova and UKLGIG - The
UK Lesbian & Gay Immigration Group
.
Free refreshments provided, all welcome.
Sponsored by
