Student Assembly - October Update

Last week, the first Student Assembly of the academic year took place in the SU Venue. Student Assembly is the forum where students can debate issues and vote on positions and actions for the students’ union to take. It’s also where the four full-time officers present their reports and take questions on the work they’ve been doing.

In this meeting there were five motions brought forward by students and these discussions ranged from the Students’ Union supporting a campaign to elect the new Goldsmiths Warden to how students could support the campaign against cuts to contact hours on the BA Community Development and Youth Work course.

There was also a motion of solidarity for LGBTQ+ students in Brazil. You can see all the motions passed into policy here.

The four full-time officers also gave their reports and spoke about the work they had been doing since taking office in June. You can check out their reports here.

The minutes from the meeting can be accessed here. The next Student Assembly meeting will take place in the SU Venue at 5pm on Thursday 6th December.

The deadline for motions is Thursday 29th November at 5pm and can be submitted here.
