Who we are - The Hysteria Society is a weekly support group for women and trans people. A space where we can explore trans-feminism through friendship, love, sex and identity politics. A safe space to have intimate conversations and help each other without judgement. We will use different readings as starting points for exchanges and conversations as well as through activities and talks with lecturers and first-hand experts.
On Inclusivity - Our meetings are based around our experiences as oppressed and stigmatised genders and identities. Since this is a space for people experiencing various types of discrimination, mainly gender based, we will not tolerate or promote any sort of discrimination. In order to ensure the comfort of our members, sharing sometimes painful experiences, we will not be accepting cis men into our support group's meetings. We believe that the will to deconstruct masculinity should come from within groups of cis-men. It is not our responsibility to do so. However, they are welcome to join our talks and some specific workshops, if all members of the group agree. In order to promote inclusivity, we will never invalidate someones experience or feelings as we wish to encourage everyone to fearlessly share and get involved.
Our Objectives for this year - To empower each other with knowledge and support so we can feel more confident in our relationships with others and with ourselves. We want to understand the causes of our struggles, critically analyse society through different lenses, and most importantly feel more represented as much an heard.
