With this group, we hope to:
widen the network of students who can bolster the campaigns work of student organisers by increasing the avenues of engagement beyond activist circles and affected liberation groups;
foster a community-responsibility approach to social justice that centres marginalised students and offers a starting point to learn how to raise awareness, become advocates, and practice allyship;
hold a space for students that wrestles with the deep discomfort of complicity, recognises the serious work of growth and (un)learning and offers resources to start developing the skills, tools, and confidence to advocate for others.
This club launches in line with our 16 Days Against Gender Based Violence Campaign (Wed 25 Nov - Thu 10 Dec 2020) and is led by the Against Sexual Violence team in collaboration with the Development & Communities Team at Goldsmiths Students' Union. Ally Club members will recieve communications about our campaigns and opportunities to get involved on the picket line, in the rallying cries and through open letters, physical and digital activism and more.
