The London Analogue Festival (LAF) is a unique project led by Goldsmiths Masters students that celebrates the beauty, power and aesthetics of analogue technologies. Taking place in iconic venues in South East London on the 8th and 9th September 2013, the festival brings together international artists and local talent for a weekend of live performances, discussions and exhibitions.
The festival will showcase a diverse range of analogue moving images, photography and sound art. Encouraging artistic, local and student participation, the LAF also offers workshops, discussions and networking opportunities. The LAF is supported by Goldsmiths Students’ Union and festival partners like Lomography, Silverprint, The Impossible Project and Room 66. Moo.com will also be providing 50 free cards for artists to promote their work.
In an era when digital technologies are ubiquitous, the first LAF will give all Londoners a chance to discover analogue, meet artists and develop new skills. It will also provide a platform for upcoming independent talents working with analogue mediums today. Entry is free and door prizes will be offered.
Events will be held in historic Deptford venues, including the Old Police Station, Deptford Town Hall and the Amersham Arms. These venues provide the perfect settings for showcasing analogue’s quality while encouraging the local community to celebrate its landmarks.
“Workshops will range from various methods of working with photography, creating sounds and moving images, and work created in the workshops will be displayed at the festival, giving local artists the chance to showcase their talent,” said David Guerrini-Nazoa, LAF Creative Director. “We see the festival’s potential to become something iconic in the area and hope to see it continue into the future.”
Goldsmiths SU is proud to support this unique project. The SU has pledged to help promote the festival and the innovative local and student talent that will be exhibited.
“We are here to support our students and we love helping to showcase the work that they do. The LAF is another example of the creativity and imaginative thinking that Goldsmiths is known for and we encourage everyone to attend,” said Courtney Greatrex, SU Marketing and Communications Departmental Supervisor.
The LAF team is currently looking for volunteers to help out during the festival. To get involved, please contact contact@londonanalogue.com. For more information on the LAF, please see the official site HERE www.londonanalogue.com. See you there!
