NUS DELEGATE MANIFESTO
Hi I'm Ibrahim Abdille, a Third year Economics, Politics and Public Policy student.
As your former BME officer and current SU Trustee, I’ve carried out a series of events this year,
including a very successful Black History Month, and a number of solidarity stunts for Ferguson.
Working with the resources I’ve managed to gain as an NUS BSC committee member as well, I’ve
also worked to create Goldsmiths Student Union’s first ever BME Network. In my trustee, I’ve kept
to my mandate to increase transparency and accountability.
I was elected your NUS Delegate last year. And at National Conference, we voted in support of NUS
having a free education policy ahead of the General Election, opposing UKIP, campaigning for asylum
seekers & refugee access to education and no fees with re-sits.
Some of My Priorities;
Call for Greater Transparency. The NUS are elected by students, so they should currently are
unaccountable and have weak transparency; I will push for more transparency and will demand
better from the NUS as they are elected to represent us.
Renewed Support For Existing Campaigns. The NUS should be a campaigning union for student
concerns. I’ll lobby the NUS to uphold and maintain their promises to students. Campaigns free
education, BDS, Anti-Racism and Fascism & putting an end to police brutality in student protests and
movements.
Prioritise Students. Essential student services are being privatised and other shut down. I’ll call the
NUS to support and back the students and unions that elected them. International students are
currently having to pay extortionate fees and are subject to horrendous checks by UKBA.
As a delegate I aim to be open and accountable for my time and I will aim to report back to you
exactly what I have done as NUS delegate.
Vote Ibrahim Abdille #1 for NUS Delegate.
