CampaignsIntroduction

Welcome to the Goldsmiths Campaigns site!

Goldsmiths Students’ Union is proudly known both nationally and internationally for its campaigning and activism at a grass roots level. We have a strong tradition of standing up for student rights and campaigning for international justice, and we really make a difference!

Students have always played a part in changing the world: from the civil rights movement in the United States to the Anti-Apartheid movement for South Africa. Today Goldsmiths students have won major campaign victories such as securing 24-hour library opening times, winning scholarships for Palestinian MA students and smashing the 2010 election attempts by the Nazi British National Party.

Getting involved in a campaign is one of the most rewarding experiences you’ll get whilst at university; it gives you the opportunity to fight for what you believe in, make interesting and diverse friends, learn lifelong skills and, to paraphrase Gandhi, you will be the change you wish to see in society.

We campaign on a huge range of student issues at Goldsmiths like tuition fees, cuts to our education, and the points based immigration system for international students.
We also have large, vibrant campaigns on all sorts of social justice issues, from campaigning against war and occupation to anti-fascist activity and campaigns to halt climate change.

If you would like more information on the issues that surround these campaigns and to get involved please use the tabs on the left hand side to navigate around this section. If there’s an issue that you care about that is missing, please contact James Haywood, the Students’ Union Campaigns and Communications Officer
